Game crashes - What to do...
Wow just had my second Survivor character die in the exact same way as before. For some reason the game randomly crashes, both times during Kilroy Stonekin's dungeon. Never have had these crashes happen in any other place ingame.
Anyone else have this happen too? Or what would could be done to prevent it from happening again?

Thanks, I could try re-downloading the .dat file.
The weird thing is the crash has only happened during Kilroy's dungeon, never in any other place in the game.
How do I request this thread moved to Technician Corner, or just remake it there?

To get a thread moved, PM one of the Q&A mods or supermod.
Regarding the bug, there must just be something wrong with something in Kilroy's that doesn't appear anywhere else that's screwing you up. Redownloading the .dat like previously suggested will probably fix it, but there is obviously no guarantees that'll work. Haven't heard of any specific Kilroy problems/glitches though.

Alright, thanksa lot. I'm re-downloading it right now, then probably re-roll another Survivor character (which campaign would be fastest to start from to get to Eye of the North anyway?)

Factions gets you leveled up and onto the mainland (access to the boat/portal) the quickest. If you don't mind getting runs/skipping content they're all able to get to EotN without much time investment.

Yeah, it took me around 5-6 hours with a Prophecies character, but that was without runs. Thanks, I'll try a Factions character next.8)
Also I'll first be farming Kilroy's dungeon for a day on my main character before re-rolling a Survivor, to see if it's safe after the re-download.

If you're really concerned about it being an issue (especially because this is your third attempt) you should probably avoid Kilroy's altogether. If you've got the money Kath Hammers are quicker and easier.

Hah, I wish I had money.=p But thanks for the suggestion though. This will probably my last try at it, and if it fails again due to crashes I'll just give up on it.=x

I used to have a problem in certain areas where my computer would freeze and lag. Those areas were anyplace there was lots of white & reflective areas, aka snow and ice. It turned out it wasn't my computer but my monitor. I bought a new monitor and noticed the problem was gone. It must have been my monitor had difficulty reading those areas.
This might contribute to your troubles? To test your could change the computer monitor settings to a low setting while in Kilroy's dungeon and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks, I got a new monitor last month, so I doubt that could be the problem, but I'll try playing on low settings if it happens again.^^

Just wondering.. but since when is it faster to go via factions?
Fastest way is to create a charakter in NF, get a ferry to Lion Arch, walk to D'aelessio Seaboard and get free exp from the ghouls by zoning. You should easily be lvl 10 within 1 hour. After that u go to Eotn. With some boxing u shud be lvl 20 in no time. So yeh can easily be done within 2 hours.
Good luck. I hope u can get it fixed

NVIDIA GeForce GT 240, got it last week.
And have been doing some more Kilroy's dungeon after the re-download and hasn't crashed so far, so hoping it's fixed now.

Well, for some reason it did crash again today, and again in Kilroy's dungeon, which I have been doing just fine for 1-3 hours a day the past week.
I have been playing Guild Wars a lot on my main character as well, and never have had the game crash on him, it seems to only happen on my Survivor and only in Kilroy's dungeon.

Update your drivers using the new nVidia installer and do a Clean Installation.
In addition, delete the GW.dat file. Then, do a disk cleanup in Windows. Then, defragment your HDD. Then, re download the GW.dat file using the -image command.
That should hopefully fix any other issue you might be having.

You need to do them in that order. It will ensure that it's not a HDD sector issue, since you will be guaranteeing the GW.dat file will be located elsewhere.
Update your other system drivers as well, including motherboard (chipset) and audio drivers. These can be a big culprit in issues like this.

So, in this order?
-Update drivers
-Delete Guild Wars
-Disk clean-up
-Defragment
-Download Guild Wars
And what does a clean installation mean?
And how do I download motherboard drivers? I went to AMD's site, and none of the options let me choose the one I have...
